Kravis Center Hosts
Third Annual Reception for
Helen K. Persson Endowment Society
More than 450 donors,
guests, and business leaders attended the third
annual event in honor of the Helen
K. Persson Endowment Society,
held on March 29 in the Kravis Center’s Gimelstob
Ballroom, prior to an amazing concert by pianist André
Watts.
Sponsored by Bernstein
Global Wealth Management,
the pre-concert luncheon opened with welcoming
remarks from William
A. Meyer,
Chairman of the Kravis Center’s Board of Directors.
Calling the Endowment
Society’s namesake a “shining example of generosity
to her community,” Mr. Meyer hailed Mrs. Persson for
her inspiring “service, leadership, and commitment
to the long-term fiscal stability of the Kravis
Center.”
The purpose of the
Helen K. Persson Endowment Society is to build an
endowment that will provide supplemental funding to
help support the operation of the Kravis Center now
and in the future. “Gifts to the endowment fund help
the Center to keep ticket prices affordable, as well
as reduce our dependency of annual fundraising, and
allow us to continue our mission to enhance the
quality of life in Palm Beach County,” he added.
Mr. Meyer
acknowledged members of the Kravis Center’s
Board of Directors and Life Trustees who were in attendance, including David
Kosowsky, Jane Mitchell, Joseph Sanches and Lee
Wolf.
He also recognized the members of the Helen K.
Persson Endowment Society who were at the reception
and received a memento of appreciation.
Stephen Emma,
Director, Wealth Management Group, Southeastern U.S., of
Bernstein Global Wealth Management, spoke briefly to the
crowd about “Effective Charitable Giving in Today’s
Environment,” emphasizing that “reaching donors now is
more important than ever.”
Also on hand from
Bernstein Global Wealth Management was Evan
C. Deoul,
who was recently appointed Senior Managing Director at
the firm.
Many of the reception
attendees were subscribers to the Regional Arts Concert
Series, who enjoyed a lecture by Programming Associate Sharon
McDaniel prior
to the “MUSIC at 2” concert by André Watts, who burst
upon the music world at the age of 16 when Leonard
Bernstein chose him to make his debut with the New York
Philharmonic and remains, more than 45 years later, one
of the most celebrated and beloved superstar pianists,
acclaimed for his majesty, flair and musicality. The
concert by André Watts was also sponsored by Bernstein
Global Wealth Management.
