sunshine
broke
through the
clouds and
opening day
at the
International
Polo Club (IPC)
was as close
to “perfect”
as you could
imagine.
Celebrating
the highly
anticipated
10th
anniversary
of the polo
club,
equestrian-actress
Bo Derek
conducted
the honors
with the
ceremonial
coin toss
and the
trophy
presentation
to the
winners of
the Herbie
Pennell Cup.
Polo fans
and
enthusiasts
were treated
to high-goal
polo at its
finest, with
two
competing
teams made
up of some
of the
world’s most
elite
players
going into
the finals.
Julio
Arellano,
the highest
rated
American
player,
scored the
winning goal
18 seconds
into
overtime to
give
defending
champion
Coca-Cola(Gillian
Johnston,
Sugar
Erskine,
Julio
Arellano,
and Tommy
Collingwood)a
13-12
victory over
Villa del
Lago (Jim
Zenni,
Augustin
Obregon,
PolitoPieres,
and
MagooLaprida).

high-goal
polo action
takes place
every Sunday
through
April 21 at
the
International
Polo Club.
