Jewish Family Service once again rocked St. Andrews Country
Club
in
Boca Raton, at the 2010 Annual Gala & Auction on December 9th. Nearly 300 prominent guests at "Take a Chance… ABBA Again" had a fabulous, fun and colorful evening, from the sumptuous cocktail reception to the pulsating band's last dance number. In between, they enjoyed dinner, spirited entertainment, and silent and live bidding on luxurious auction items.
Judi & Craig Donoff, Arnold & Isabel Friedman and Wendy & Wayne Legum again co-chaired this renowned annual opportunity for caring, generous donors to meet South Palm Beach County’s vital community needs by supporting programs and services of Ruth Rales Jewish Family Service. And this year’s Gala & Auction raised nearly $400,000.
Amid the festivities, Diane and Larry Feldman were honored as this year's recipients of the Ruth and Norman Rales Humanitarian of the Year Award. Highly successful entrepreneurs, the Feldmans are also renowned for their continual caring and philanthropy. With both dedicated to health causes, Larry has raised more than $1.5 million for breast cancer research through his Subway Development Corporation. Diane serves on the JFS Executive Committee and is active in Women’s Philanthropy at the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County. The couple has generously endowed the Feldman Family Diamond Club at JFS. This active group of more than 130 participants ages 70 and older keeps growing, and is a cornerstone of programming at the recently opened JFS Shirley & Barton Weisman Delray Community Center.
“Diane and Larry Feldman keep giving back to the community in so many ways, they truly embody the spirit of this award,” said Lawrence I. Blair, Chair of the JFS Board. “Their passion and commitment to helping those in need have inspired and taught so many others to be aware and compassionate, and to give and act on behalf of those in need.”
The Feldmans were humbled by the honor and looking forward to continuing their lifelong commitments to helping those in need. “We were so pleased with the great attendance at such a fabulous event,” said Larry Feldman. “And we’re even more excited that the night raised so much to help JFS continue its most important mission.”
“For thirty-one years, JFS has been helping our neighbors who need it most, and in these difficult times our many services and programs have never been needed more urgently,” said Arnold Friedman, JFS Financial Resource Development Chair. “Our Annual Gala and Auction raises dollars and awareness of local needs in a joyous and energizing celebration of our caring donors who enable us to meet these challenges today and in the future.” The Gala’s generous Underwriters included: Arthur Benjamin Foundation; Greenspoon Marder, PA; Proskauer; Gateway Insurance; A Plus Home Health Care; Judi & Craig Donoff; Wendy & Wayne Legum; Laura & Steve Litinsky; Linda & Ivan Gefen.
