Kravis Center Hosts Appreciation Luncheon for
Board of Directors,
Life Trustees &
Standing
Committee Members
As another star-studded
season starts to wind down, the
Kravis Center
hosted its annual
Appreciation Luncheon
for members of its Board of Directors, Life Trustees and
Standing Committees. More than 60 VIVs (Very Important
Volunteers) attended a special luncheon on April 27 that was
generously sponsored by
Laurie Silvers
and
Mitchell Rubenstein.
The distinguished attendees
were welcomed by Kravis Board Chairman
William A. Meyer,
who thanked everyone for giving freely of their “time,
talent and money” during a season in which the Center
presented “a kaleidoscope of international artists and
attractions from every discipline.”
Meyer announced that the
Kravis Center was “on track to exceed our annual fundraising
goal of $4.3 million, thanks to our wonderful annual
supporters and the success of our three spectacular annual
fundraising events: the Gala, Palm Beach Wine Auction and
Reach
for the Stars
ballroom
dance competition with gourmet food and
fine wines.”
Additionally, according to
Mr. Meyer, the Helen K. Persson Endowment Society continues
to increase its membership through the receipt of letters of
interest for legacy gifts from board members, donors,
volunteers and staff.
Describing herself as “a real
cheerleader for the Kravis Center,”
Ms. Silvers, the luncheon sponsor, praised the
not-for-profit performing arts center for being “a cultural
beacon in our community, both as an entertainment focal
point and as an
economic catalyst.”
A key member of the
organization’s Board of Directors who is Chair of the
Employee Relations Committee and also serves on the Board’s
Development Committee, Ms. Silvers hailed the Kravis Center
for its “sound fiscal management, a caring and extremely
dedicated staff, and a Board of Directors and committee
members who harbor the best interests of the Center in mind
as they deliberate decisions.”
Special gifts of appreciation
were presented to the chairs of this season’s successful
fundraising events, including
Ted Mandes
for the Palm Beach Wine Auction;
Kristin Demeritt
and
Christine DiRocco,
co-chairs of the Young Friends of the Kravis Center, who
