May
1, 2011 – New Hope Charities’ 11th
Annual “Golf for Kids” Tournament,
chaired by Alex Fanjul and William
Surtees, took place at the elegant
and exclusive Dye Preserve in
Jupiter on April 26, 2011. Each
year, friends and supporters of New
Hope gather to raise funds for
programs serving families in need in
the Glades. Golfers and patrons
enjoyed a great time of golf, a
traditional Cuban lunch buffet and
an awards ceremony. The tournament
raised over $55,000 to support
important community service and
education programs.
New
Hope Charities continues to make
strides in this underserved
community of Pahokee and Belle Glade
with programs to fight hunger and
foster education. The Food
Assistance Program helps children
and families to have their basic
needs met in this tough economy.
Through New Hope’s education and
after-care programs, children stay
off the streets and receive the
tutoring and encouragement needed to
help them succeed, ultimately giving
them hope for a brighter future.
“Each year as we kick off the annual
tournament, we’re excited and
humbled by the consistent support
and participation we receive from
those in our community,” said Alex
Fanjul, Event Chairman. Willie
Surtees, Co-Chairman, expressed, “We
are thrilled to be able to have this
terrific event each year to raise
money for a good cause thanks to our
loyal donors.”
Tournament Sponsors of this year’s
event were Florida Crystals and The
William H. Pitt Foundation. Other
sponsors included Ford, AON Risk
Services, CASE IH and Glade & Grove
Supply Company. The team of Averell
Fisk, Chris Swindle, Joe Scaggs and
Achille Guest scored 1st
Place in the tournament after
winning a tiebreaker with the
Richard Miller team, which placed 2nd.
