Opportunity, Inc.
welcomed its special friends and donors to a cocktail
reception and history exhibit on Tuesday, January 21st,
Opportunity, Inc. day as proclaimed by the City of West Palm
Beach at The Historical Society of Palm Beach to celebrate
its 75th Anniversary, thank our friends and share
the history of the organization since it was founded in Palm
Beach in 1939. On display was the original shell pieces
designed and built by the early founders, a business built
to create income for at risk families in the community.
The reception was
underwritten by Waverly and Jack Shirreffs along with Laura
and Tom Mann. Pete Nicoletti, Board Director welcomed our
guests and spoke of his passion for the work of Opportunity
and our collective desire expand the organization. Harvey
Oyer, Palm Beach’s leading historian, delivered the feature
address by offering the group a view of Palm Beach history
including the significance of Opportunity, Inc., and the
legacy of excellence, vision and longevity of the
organization.
The landmark
Historical Museum was filled with cheer and appreciation for
the work of Opportunity and its history. Our guests joined
Opportunity to pay tribute to the visionary founders.
Amongst our guests were second and third generation
supporters, Lucy Anthony, Laura Johnston and their
daughters. PNC Bank and Meredith Michener are the proud
sponsors of the 75th Anniversary Celebration
season.
Opportunity Early
Learning Center is a top ranked, Five Star educational
facility delivering programs designed to “break the cycle”
of poverty by offering early childhood educational
programming and parent support to low income families,
single parent families, and families in crisis.
The exhibit will be
on display through February 28th.
