(PALM BEACH, Fla.) – Petra Levin will return as Chairman for the 2011 Caron Renaissance Gala, according to Doug Tieman, Caron Treatment Centers President and CEO.
Mrs. Levin has chaired the Caron Renaissance Gala for the past five consecutive years, and this year the Saturday, February 26, 2011 event at The Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach will feature Studio 54 legend and disco queen Gloria Gaynor in concert.
The event will benefit the Lifesaver Scholarship Fund at Caron Renaissance, providing financial assistance to qualified families for treatment at the renowned facility.
The Caron Treatment Centers network is one of the finest nationally recognized non-profit drug and alcohol treatment centers in the country, offering residential treatment and outpatient programs for adults and adolescents, as well as families affected by the disease of addiction. Caron’s Renaissance facility opened a new state-of-the-art treatment office in South Florida last year, and this year is celebrating its 20th anniversary launching groundbreaking on-site family programs, and pioneering new advances in the field of addiction treatment.
“We are honored that Mrs. Levin has agreed to serve as our gala chairman for the sixth year,” said Tieman. “Through hard-work and determination, she is committed to raising awareness and critical dollars for Caron Renaissance to benefit those who might otherwise be able to afford treatment.”
Mrs. Levin is married to Palm Beach resident and chairman of Gold Coast Beverage Distributors, Stephen A. Levin. She is an active civic and community leader who supports numerous charities including 211/The Center for Information & Crisis Services, American Heart Association, Children’s Home Society, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, LIFE (Leaders In Furthering Education) and The Simon Wiesenthal Center.
Mrs. Levin serves on the Caron Board of Trustees, Caron Treatment Center’s Florida Board of Directors and was recently named to Caron’s national board of directors. This year she will be honored in Dallas, Texas as one of Northwood University’s Women of Distinction. In addition, Mrs. Levin is a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Folk Art Museum in New York.
In addition to raising awareness, Mrs. Levin has masterfully raised critical scholarship dollars for Caron. Under her leadership, an astonishing $2 million has been raised to provide scholarships to those in need of treatment who would otherwise not have the opportunity to benefit from the extended care programming at Caron Renaissance.
