Policemen’s
Ball,
the
Palm
Beach
Police
Foundation’s
annual
fundraiser
at
Mar-a-Lago
on
January
8,
2011,
paid
tribute
to
the
Palm
Beach
Police
Department,
which
is
celebrating
its
Centennial
Anniversary,
along
with
the
Town
of
Palm Beach.
The
gala
attracted
more
than
500
supporters
and
friends,
including
officers
and
employees
from
the
Palm
Beach
Police
Department,
local
civic
leaders
including
U.S.
Representative
Allen
West.
The
gala
raised
more
than
$750,000.
Eileen
and
Brian
P.
Burns
served
as
Executive
Ball
Committee
Chairmen
and
chose
a
patriotic
theme
of
red,
white
and
blue
for
the
decor.
The
evening
began
with
a
tented
poolside
cocktail
reception
where
guests
enjoyed
cocktails
and
hors
d’oeuvres
and the
strains
of a
steel
band.
The
guests
were
escorted
to
the
Grand
Ballroom
where
Palm
Beach
Pipes
and
Drums
played
at
the
entryway
followed
by
the
Presentation
of
the
Colors
by
the
Palm
Beach
Police
Department
Honor
Guard.
The
National
Anthem
was
performed
by
United
We
Sing,
and
the
Invocation
was
given
by
Captain
Fred
Hess,
and
television
personality
Regis
Philbin,
and
his
wife,
Joy,
made
a
quick
appearance.
In
nostalgic
recognition
of
the
Town
of
Palm
Beach’s
Centennial
anniversary,
also
being
celebrated
this
year,
a
professional
handler
presented
an
assortment
of
reptiles
that
attracted
the
braver
guests
as
an
homage
to
Alligator
Joe’s,
the
once
popular
Worth
Avenue
tourist
attraction
A
replica
of
the
Palm
Beach
Calaboose
provided
a
commemorative
photo
setting
of
the
island’s
first
jail
John
F.
Scarpa,
president
of
The
Palm
Beach
Police
Foundation,
welcomed
the
guests,
and
introduced
Palm
Beach
Police
Chief
Kirk
Blouin.
Scarpa
and
Brian
Burns then
presented
the
Fifth
Annual
Palm
Tree
Award
to
Thomas
Quick
in
recognition
of
his
outstanding
civic
activity
and
philanthropy.
Other
evening
highlights
included
an
exciting
live
auction
conducted
by
Bill
Bone,
a
sumptuous
dinner; fireworks;
a
red,
white
and
blue
balloon
drop,
and
entertainment
provided
by
Soul
Survivors
that kept
a
constant
crowd
on
the
dance
floor
till
after
midnight.

gifts
and
donations
for
the
benefit
of
the
Palm
Beach
Police
Department
and
its
