The Salvation Army Celebrates 40th Annual
Christmas Ball

(Palm Beach, FL) – The Salvation Army of Palm Beach
County held their 40th Annual Black-tie
Christmas Ball on Saturday, December 3rd.
This year’s Anniversary ball included special guest
speaker, Mr. Rudy Giuliani, due to his embracement of
The Salvation Army during the 9/11 attacks on New York
City ten years ago. This celebratory event took place
at The Beach Club in Palm Beach, FL with Mr. Walter Ross
sponsoring The Salvation Army at the venue.
During the
event, individuals took party in a VIP reception where
they were greeted by Mr. Rudy Giuliani and his wife
Judith. Photos were taken with the Mayor to commemorate
the evening. The Giuliani’s mingled with guests and
joined in on bidding for the silent auction items. Once
guests entered the ballroom, Major Thomas McWilliams,
The Salvation Army Area Commander for Palm Beach County
introduced the Mayor; “Mayor Giuliani and I met ten
years ago at ground zero, when I was acting Red Zone
Commander of The Salvation Army Operations.” The Mayor
himself gave a 30 minute speech on Leadership and
allowed Salvation Army guests to ask him a few
questions.
This annual
fundraising effort supports local Salvation Army
programs in Palm Beach County; transitional housing for
the homeless, drop-in centers for youth, correctional
services for Federal pre-release inmates, social service
assistance including food, clothing and financial
assistance, spiritual support through their many
churches and whenever disaster strike, the Salvation
Army mobile canteens provide support to the area. All
of the money raised during the Christmas Ball and all
fundraising events for The Salvation Army stay in this
county to support area individuals and families in
need. The Salvation Army has been serving Palm Beach
County residents since 1922 by providing food, clothing,
shelter, and support for those less fortunate.
Ambassadors for
the Christmas Ball included Richard and Helen DeVos
Foundation. Benefactors included Cathleen Cox McFarlane
Charitable Foundation, Inc., Mr. Walter Ross, Leo and
Kathryn Vecellio and sponsorship was provided by David
and Kimberly Ackerman, Robin Bartosh, Braman Motor Cars,
Ralph and Ann Glendenning, Henry and Leslie Jamison,
Addison and Mary Helen Keim, Stephen and Cathy Moore,
School Investment Properties, Inc., E.T. and Pamela
