PALM BEACH – A glowing
full moon provided the final touch on a perfect stargazing
evening as Kathryn and Leo Vecellio welcomed chairmen and
supporters of “A Night For Sight”
aboard their new M/Y Lady Kathryn V,
at a kickoff reception for the Schepens Eye Research
Institute’s benefit dinner event held the following evening
at The Breakers.
As the Vecellios welcomed each guest in the main salon of
their 201-foot vessel, music was provided by a member of the
LKV crew on the ship’s baby grand piano. The newly
christened motor yacht arrived in Palm Beach for the
reception, which included tours of the ship and a special
auction, chaired by Julie Rudolph.
“Schepens Eye Research Institute was indeed honored to have
been hosted by the Vecellios in such a magnificent setting,”
reported Kenneth Fischer, Director of the Institute, which
was celebrating its 60th Anniversary and its new union with
Massachusetts Eye and Ear at The Breakers the following
evening. “Kathryn and Leo Vecellio have been ardent
supporters of Schepens for over 30 years, and we are
grateful to them for their steadfast support as well as
their generosity in hosting this memorable reception.”
Mrs. Vecellio has been a trustee at
the Institute and has chaired every event for Schepens in
Palm Beach along with other distinguished supporters. She
most recently joined the board of directors of the
Massachusetts Eye and Ear Foundation.
