America’s 16.9 Million Uninsured Eligible for Government
Programs |
San Jose, Calif. – September 6, 2011 – The Foundation for
Health Coverage Education (FHCE), announced today that it
has been awarded two grants totaling $60,000 from the Health
Coverage Foundation
(
www.healthcoveragefoundation.org ). The grants
will aid in updating FHCE’s U.S. Uninsured Help Line
800-234-1317 and website,
www.CoverageForAll.org , and strengthen continued media
efforts to educate uninsured Americans about their health
coverage options. They will also enhance a collaborative
outreach effort with the American Lung Association to assist
uninsured lung disease sufferers with navigating the complex
health coverage system.
On a bi-annual basis, FHCE reviews the entire U.S. public
health coverage system, checking each program’s contact,
eligibility, and benefits information to make sure it is
up-to-date. Once completed, the updated information is
disseminated to FHCE’s collaborative partners, which include
the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes
Association, and the American Heart Association. Additional
efforts to strengthen the partnership between the U.S.
Uninsured Help Line and the American Lung Association Lung
HelpLine 800-LUNGUSA (548-8252) will be made via bilingual
outreach materials and call center training sessions.
"When we discovered the Foundation for Health Coverage
Education and its Coverage for All program, we decided to
offer support because our missions are so similar,” said
Michael D. Bromberg, President of the Health Coverage
Foundation. “FHCE’s tools are an effective way to help
people find coverage options in what is otherwise a
confusing system for them. We’ve also supported FHCE’s joint
projects with chronic disease groups. It is gratifying to
know that hundreds of thousands of families have been helped
through their tools."
“The FHCE has assisted over 3 million consumers with
understanding their health coverage eligibility status,
available public programs, and heath care reform through
CoverageForAll.org and our U.S. Uninsured Help Line,” said
Ankeny Minoux, President of the FHCE. “With funding from the
Health Coverage Foundation, we can continue our mission to
educate uninsured Americans about their health coverage
options.”
