Hollywood, CA (July 5, 2011) – the Give Back
Hollywood Foundation, a nonprofit that connects celebrities
with charitable causes to promote support, participation and
awareness, officially launched the “Hollywood Pledge” and a
Web site,
www.HollywoodPledge.com,
on June 1, 2011 to encourage members of the entertainment
community to strengthen their commitment to charity. Stars
already committed to taking the Pledge include Laurence
Fishburne, Richard Gere, Hugh Jackman, Jewel, Kim Kardashian,
Kellan Lutz, Ricky Martin, Kelly Osbourne, Adrian Peterson,
Rachel Zoe, Jordin Sparks, Denzel Washington, and many
others.
Inspired by Bill Gates & Warren Buffett’s Giving Pledge,
Give Back Hollywood is bringing together some of the biggest
names in music, fashion, sports and entertainment to
demonstrate their commitment and pledge their support for
charities worldwide. The Hollywood Pledge is intended to
catalyze the entertainment community, creating a platform
for Hollywood and international celebrities to stand
together and demonstrate the importance of philanthropy.
“For more than seven years, The Give Back Hollywood
Foundation has linked celebrities with meaningful causes and
produced hundreds of charity events, especially those
focused on children, health and disaster relief,” explains
founder and president Todd Krim. “The Hollywood Pledge,
inspired by the ‘Giving Pledge’ is a natural evolution of
this effort and intended to drive the adoption of charity
causes by the leading figures in entertainment, which in
turn can become an incredible motivator for fans worldwide
to embrace the same commitment.”
Celebrities will take the Hollywood Pledge through the
website,
www.HollywoodPledge.com , listing the charity/charities
they support and encouraging millions of fans worldwide to
give back as well: whether through monetary donations,
volunteer work, or just getting involved in their
communities to make a difference. The Hollywood Pledge is
believed to be one of the largest philanthropic movements in
Hollywood history.
The ABC Television Network, The Hollywood
Reporter and the Screen Actors Guild Foundation have signed
on as official partners of the Hollywood Pledge. All three
of these organizations have pro-social initiatives, ABC’s “A
Better Community,” The Hollywood Reporter’s July issue
focusing on “Philanthropy and Hollywood,” and the Screen
Actors Guild Foundation’s Children’s Literacy Initiative.
Additional sponsors of the Pledge include JetBlue, Fashion
Forms, Glam Rock Watches, L’Anza Healing Haircare, LePosh
Salon, Niche Your Home, Coca-Cola, Coffee Bean and Fig &
Olive. Gift bag sponsors include Mom's Originals, bigRuby
Nail Tattoos, SHUT IT DOWN, Vitabath, Pop Chips, and Wusthof.
