(PALM BEACH) – Nearly 300 guests gathered at
The-Mar-a-Lago Club on Friday, February 27 for the
2009 Caron Renaissance Gala. The beautiful evening
provided a wonderful backdrop for the black tie
event raising more than $770,000 for Caron’s
Lifesaver Scholarship fund.
Set under the stars, guests enjoyed a poolside
reception before moving into the Grand Ballroom for
dinner and dancing late into the evening to the band
Ariel. Comedian Mark Lundholm entertained the
crowd. To end the night, one lucky guest took home
the exquisite Cartier Trinity necklace from Cartier
Palm Beach.
“I’m so appreciative for the outpouring of support
that helped us raise nearly three-quarters of a
million in these difficult times,” said Petra Levin,
gala chairwoman.
Honored for commitment and exemplary service in the
addiction treatment field, Congressman Patrick J.
Kennedy and Congressman Jim Ramstad were awarded the
Richard J. Caron Award. Their advocacy efforts were
paramount in the passage of the Paul Wellstone and
Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction
Equity Act of 2008 - eliminating the disparities
between mental health and physical health benefits.
Sponsors for the Gala included Cartier Palm Beach,
Tory Burch, Gold Coast Beverage Distributors,
Merrill Lynch and Western Asset Management.
