Autism
Speaks and The Gillen Brewer School teamed up with the NHL
for the first ever Face-off for a Cure dinner gala on
Monday, March 21 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in
Manhattan. The gala raised over 1.1 million dollars for
child with autism and other special needs. NHL Commissioner
Gary
Bettman,
Hall of Famers
Rod Gilbert
and Pat
LaFontaine,
former NJ Devil
Ken Daneyko, and NHL Alumni Association Executive
Director Mark R. Napier were among a group of NHL
legends on hand to salute the evening’s honorees: Andrew
Robertson, President and Chief Executive Officer of BBDO
Worldwide; Richard Segal, Chairman and CEO of Seavest,
Inc.; Frank D’Amelio, Chief Financial Officer and EVP,
Business Operations at Pfizer; and Brian D. Monihan,
Senior Vice President and General Manager of Comcast
SportsNet Philadelphia.
The evening kicked-off with a cocktail reception featuring a
silent auction of sports memorabilia and other unique items,
followed by dinner and the awards presentation. Joining NHL
Commissioner
Gary Bettman as
co-chairs of the event are Sirius Radio CEO Mel Karmazin,
former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue, Henry
Schacht, Tim Solso, and Autism Speaks’ Co-Founders Suzanne &
Bob Wright.
All proceeds will benefit Autism Speaks, North America’s
leading autism science and advocacy organization, and The
Gillen Brewer School, a school dedicated to helping children
with special needs.
