GOLDEN SLIPPER CLUB CELEBRATES ITS NEW LOCATION AT ADATH ISRAEL SYNAGOGUE IN MERION STATION, PENNSYLVANIA

(BALA CYNWYD, PA)  The Golden Slipper Club and Charities (GSC) celebrated its new location at Adath Israel Synagogue (250 Highland Avenue, Merion Station, Pennsylvania, 19066) on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 while it held its quarterly general membership and board of governors meeting.    The setting provided an opportunity to showcase their new Golden Slipper on the Main Line program for seniors.   Golden Slipper on the Main Line is an expanded program of Golden Slipper Center for Seniors under the Golden Slipper Club & Charities umbrella.

Golden Slipper on the Main Line offers the best of lifelong learning for active, independent Jewish seniors.  Its year round programs feature diverse courses such as world affairs, film and theater, history, science, art, literature, music, Jewish cultural interests, Monday speaker's forum, and more.   There are also exercise programs including gentle yoga, dancercise, line dancing and Tai Chi.   In addition to programs designed to stimulate the mind and body, Golden Slipper on the Main Line offers  cultural, historical and entertainment-themed excursions  that may be enjoyed with friends.  This new location is within walking distance of SEPTA bus line #44 and the Merion train station at Merion Road and North Highland Avenue.   Learn more about this new program: www.goldenslipperseniors.org/index.php/slipper-on-the-main-line/about-slipper-on-the-main-line

Golden Slipper on the Main Line is offering some fee-based programs as part of its lifelong learning series:

·      The Passport Program runs for four weeks with morning classes held Mondays through Thursdays  in September, May and June.   In January and July, a special Passport Series featuring one entertainment program (including lunch), and one lecture per week (refreshments served) is offered.   A Full Passport Series Package (September, May, and June) is $75.00 (includes all courses in series).* Individual Passport Courses (September, May, and June) are $13.00.

·      The Semester Series lasts for eight weeks and also offers two morning classes on Mondays  through Thursday, beginning in the late fall (October) and early spring (February/March).  The cost for the Full Semester Package is $150.00 (includes all courses)* and Individual Semester Courses (Fall and Spring) are $28.00.

·       Exercise Class prices are $36.00 for a six week session or a $7.00 walk-in fee per class (and they are not included in Passport or Semester Packages).

There is no membership fee to participate in Golden Slipper on the Main Line programs but there is an annual registration fee of $18.00.  This fee is waived for the first year for those individuals who are new to GSC programs.

*Prices are subject to change without notice.

Golden Slipper Club & Charities, celebrating 90 years in 2012, has taken a hands-on approach to support programs and services for the Greater Philadelphia area’s youth, needy and elderly, with some 600 active men and women who volunteer their time to serve people in need.   Golden Slipper's motto is charity, good fellowship and loyalty, first and foremost, in all its endeavors.   It provides charitable services to those in need in the community. Golden Slipper Camp sends approximately 600 children to overnight camp in the beautiful Pocono Mountains. Golden Slipper Center for Seniors provides a daytime activities facility which offers social and recreational activities and meals for over 300 senior citizens.  Other programs offered to help the community include HUNAS (Human Needs and Services) which gives emergency grants to those in need and the Slipper Scholarship Program, which provides college scholarships
to deserving and promising young students.  Visit
