Continuing an American Tradition
A collection of luminous landscapes by
Scott Thomas Balfe At The Union League Club
By: FIDDLE VIRACOLA
In this time of uncertainty, political
posturing and voyeuristic change, there’s needed nourishment
in just seeing the art of Scott Thomas Balfe in the
tradition of The Hudson River School of Painting where Human
beings and nature co-exist peacefully. It’s a
mini vacation
framed in the Aesthetic vision of Romantism
that began in the mid -19th
Century. Hudson River artists
believed “the American landscape was an ineffable
manifestation of God,” and pastoral settings reveal
exploration, place and discovery. Their reverence birthed
America’s first art museum.
Scott Thomas Balfe is exhibiting his classic
landscape paintings in this tradition at the exclusive
Union League Club 38 East 37th street
with an opening reception October 8th. This
amazing show runs October 1 through October31st. See why his
artistry is constantly sought after by major collectors here
and abroad.
He moved to the Catskills milieu of
the Hudson valley where
he resides and maintains his studio/gallery in Earlton, NY.
How apt for inhaling
inspiration from
Early American painters such as Frederic
Church and Thomas Cole and the White Mountains.
