(West Palm Beach, FL) The Raymond
F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts hosted
the first annual Alan
Lebow Award for Excellence in
Shakespearean Performance at
a special reception in the Persson
Rehearsal Hall on March 20.
Presented by Kids’ Dreams in
honor of Alan Lebow, who passed
away last year just a month before his
82nd birthday, the Award was inspired by
his lifelong love of Shakespeare and
poetry.
“This was our first year and we had 75
students who signed up for the
competition and 49 who auditioned. The
winners competed by reciting up to three
minutes of the Shakespearean selection
of their choice,” said Patricia Lebow.
“I am very proud that Kids’ Dreams will
be presenting these Awards annually at
the Kravis Center in conjunction with
their production of a Shakespearean
play.”
Three students from Palm Beach
Atlantic University and four from
the Alexander W. Dreyfoos, Jr. School
of the Arts each received a check
for $500 presented by Mrs. Lebow and Palm

About Kids’ Dreams:
For the past two summers, Kids’ Dreams
sent children from the Youth Empowerment
Center of the Criminal Justice
Commission of Palm Beach County to camp
at Palm Beach Zoo. In addition to animal
encounters and a visit to the South
Florida Science Museum, the campers
spent time getting to know a sheriff's
deputy. Older youth were given a
Narcotic Overdose Prevention and
Education (NOPE) Task Force
presentation. Kids’ Dreams also hosted
140 youngsters during the Max Planck
Science Tunnel exhibit at the museum and
has awarded a partial college
scholarship; plus, the charity helps
at-risk youth pay for academic
assistance.
