Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson was one of the most exciting
new musicals this past spring off-broadway at The Public
Theater. Rolling Stone called Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson,
“the season’s best musical”. On October 13th the
show opened on Broadway at The Bernard Jacobs Theater with
Benjamin Walker reprising the title role.
Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson is an irreverent retelling of
the life of America’s seventh president by Alex Timbers
(writer/director) and Michael Friedman (composer/lyricist).
Andrew Jackson is portrayed as a rock star, complete with
tight jeans, groupies, and a desire for power through fame.
The 90 minute show is adored by younger audiences for it
rock score, by the over 30 crowd for its look at the first
American Populist president and by the over 50 crowd for the
history lesson it contains.
The cast includes: Benjamin Walker, Kristine Nielson, James
Barry, Darren Goldstein, Greg Hildreth, Jeff Hiller, Lucas
