Kea New York
(The Kiwi Expats Association) will present
Anna Wilding
's award winning documentary "Buddha Wild: Monk in a Hut" at the Helen Mills Theater, 137-139 West 26th Street, New York on May 6, 2010 at 6:30 pm. A Q & A with the director Ms. Wilding will follow the screening

"Buddha Wild: Monk in a Hut" is a rare behind the scenes look at Buddhist monastery life in the 21st Century that delves into many issues of monastic life from the concept of celibacy to racism to the role of women. It is a happy film that shows the real life of Buddhist monks.

The film has run in major art house cinemas including Laemmle's USA. It has received awards in the Best Feature Documentary in the USA by Kids First at the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and has been invited by a number of international festivals and series including India's International Festival of Films on Tribal Arts and Culture, USA Kids Films Festival, Calgary Film Series, the headline film of Cinema Cafe's Santa Fe Film Series, Screen Actors Guild Series USA, Culture Unplugged, Tibet House NY, World Earth Week NY and others.

Buddha Wild: Monk in a Hut was voted "a must see film" by Janet Walker, Splash Magazine. "Worth it, a fine film for family viewing", said Moonrise Movie Magazine, Canada. It received LA Weekly Critics Pick and others. New York Flavorpill critic Chloe Leichman describes it as "a refreshing synthesis of Eastern and Western politics and culture, without a nibble of Hollywood cheese-Buddha Wild explores what really goes on behind the monastery doors, touching on hot-button issues like the roles of women, racism, and celibacy in a monk's daily life." The film has also been called "beautiful and moving" by Moving Pictures Magazine. For more information on the film please go to
