Naxos of
America invites you to join
JOSÉ SEREBRIER and SPECIAL GUESTS
Ned Rorem, Rachel Barton Pine and Carole Farley
for a special CD signing and panel discussion
at
BARNES & NOBLE
Lincoln Center Triangle, 1972 Broadway
New York, NY 212-595-6859
Tuesday, October 19th, 7:30 pm
From the orchestral transcriptions of Leopold Stokowski,
to the Symphonies and Concertos of Ned Rorem, to his
transcendental live performance of Rachmaninoff's The Bells
on Warner Classics, José Serebrier's work shows an
astonishing range of musical interest and accomplishment.
But even as he champions the work of others, his own work as
a composer is sometimes overlooked. The just released
recording of his Symphony No. 1, Violin Concerto, and Double
Bass Concerto, with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra shows
that this side of his work deserves equal attention.
At this event, José and his guests discuss their shared
musical accomplishments; from the Naxos recordings of the
orchestral music of Ned Rorem with José Serebrier
conducting, to the exquisite songs of Ned Rorem as recorded
by Carole Farley, to recordings of the orchestral
transcriptions of Maestro Serebrier's mentor, Leopold
Stokowski. As a special highlight violinist Rachel Barton
Pine will give the first US performance of Jos é
Serebrier's Aires de Tango, a piece she commissioned from
him for inclusion on her next CD on the Cedille label,
Capricho Latino.
