--Miami City Ballet’s (MCB) Artist Circle, a members-only
contingent of Palm Beach County supporters gathered recently
during the dance troupe's eagerly anticipated 26th
anniversary season Program II performance. The second of
four opening night cocktail receptions planned for the
Company’s 2011-2012 season of dance at the Kravis Center for
the Performing Arts was held at Renato's, Palm Beach..
Balletomanes were treated to a spectacular evening of dance
with the premiere of the new choreographic wunderkind of
British ballet Liam Scarlett and his newly commissioned work
“Viscera” a thrilling and powerful movement set to the music
of Lowell Liebermann's Concerto No. 1 for Piano and
Orchestra. Also featured on the stellar program included
Jerome Robbin's In the Night and a classic, George
Balanchine's Ballet Imperial.

Alastair Macaulay reviewed the weekend of performances and
proclaimed, “To return to Miami City Ballet is like being
welcomed home. The dancers flood the theater with qualities
of warmth and vitality that are like no other ballet
company's. Yet what is so remarkable is their selflessness:
they place all their energies at the service of music and
choreography.”
On hand to greet Artist Circle members and their guests was
Miami City Ballet's newly appointed Executive Director
Nicholas Goldsborough accompanied by MCB Palm Beach Liaison
Philip Neal. Neal welcomed all and expressed his gratitude
to the Palm Beach community for their continued support as
the Company’s leading South Florida audience and
additionally served as a sincere thank you to the
underwriters of the Ballet troupe's upcoming dinner dance
“Palm Beach MODness!” including chairwomen Cheryl Gowdy and
Adelaida Muňiz-Iscoe. Neal, with assistance from
Goldsborough, presented a plaque to the evening's gracious
hostess and proprietor Arlenė Desiderio of Renato's in
appreciation for hosting the cocktail reception.
Among those enjoying the evening’s

dubbed: A celebration of dance by the world’s greatest
Choreographers will continue at the Kravis Center with the
return of two audience favorites, the full-length
productions of Giselle on March 9th through the 11th and
Coppélia slated for April 13th through the 15th.
The Opus One Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Gary
Sheldon, will play for all repertory programs, supported by
a grant from the James S. and John L. Knight Foundation, as
part of its Knight Arts Challenge. Inquiries on the
