(January 4, 2011) – Peter Quinn, CEO of the
T.J. Martell
Foundation,
is pleased to announce the
Board of Directors
for 2011 under the leadership of Founder and
Chairman Tony Martell. The twenty-six directors are
each accomplished individuals who have a history of
supporting the Foundation’s mission to fund
innovative
cancer and AIDS
research.
Brothers
Monte Lipman and Avery Lipman of Universal Republic
Records have joined the Board after serving several
years on the annual Family Day committee. They were
honored as Humanitarians of the Year at the 2010
Awards Gala, where they helped execute the most
successful Martell Gala in recent history, raising
$1.5 million.
“Monte
and Avery Lipman have proven themselves to be
stellar fundraisers for our foundation over the
years, and we are lucky to have them committed to
our cause, funding cancer and AIDS research. They
also help us stay firmly rooted in the music
industry and were responsible for bringing
superstars like Enrique Iglesias, Colbie Caillat and
3 Doors Down to this year’s Annual Awards Gala,
which garnered great exposure for the Foundation,”
says Board President Ron Hartenbaum.
After several years as
a Director and Treasurer, Mr. Kevin Kelleher,
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
of Sony Music Entertainment, has stepped down. Mr.
David Satler, Managing Director, Head of Human
Resources for UBS Wealth Management US, was elected
Treasurer; Mr. Satler has served as a Board member
and Gala Steering Committee Co-Chair for the last
two years.
Broadcast
media executive Mr. Ron Hartenbaum continues his
term as President. Mr. Paul LiCalsi of Mitchell
Silberberg & Knupp, continues his term as Vice
Chairman. Mr. Mike Brzostowski, Continental Airlines
Regional Sales Director, continues his term as
Executive Vice President. Mr. Andy Tavel, Founder of
Tavel and Associates, P.C., continues his term as
Secretary.
The
T.J. Martell Foundation’s Board of Directors meets
several times each year to strategize and lead the
Foundation’s fundraising efforts and
grant-making decisions.

Martell Foundation for Leukemia, Cancer and AIDS
Research was founded in 1975 by music industry
executive Tony Martell and his colleagues, in loving
memory of his son, T.J., who died of leukemia. It
is dedicated to raising funds for the innovative
