New York, NY: A a one-of-a-kind evening with
The Good Dog Foundation, New York’s pioneering non-profit,
and the first to launch a program that certifies (not just
registers) therapy dogs and their human handlers. Some 400
human and 40 canine guests gathered to celebrate decades
of philanthropy and hard work in which Good Dog has been
training volunteers and their dogs to work as a team to
provide emotional healing for children and adults suffering
from disease, disability and loss. Thousands benefit
annually, including people with cancer, kids on the autism
spectrum, veterans with PTSD, seniors with dementia, and
others suffering trauma and stress.
The
evening centerpiece was a 10-minute play, “Harry and Lulu”
adapted from an award-winning children’s book by Arthur Yorinks, starring Isabella Rossellini and featuring other
stage luminaries.
With
a 20 year-legacy of volunteer services and scientific
research milestones behind them, this special,
celebrity-driven event marked an invite-only look into the
next 20 years that Good Dog intends to play in human animal
interaction.
