story highlighted Jean Shafiroff’s philanthropic successes
and humanitarian efforts benefiting marginalized
communities, women’s rights, the welfare of animals and many
more charitable causes.

My passion for underserved and marginalized populations was
well conveyed on the pages of the June 2018 issue. The cover
story serves as a reminder that even the smallest
philanthropic efforts can make a global impact. I want to
thank Georges Bergés for opening his art gallery for our
celebration. It was a fabulous evening with the most
phenomenal pieces of art on display,” said philanthropist
and author Jean Shafiroff.
Shafiroff’s philanthropic efforts have impacted many
charities including the New York City Mission Society,
a Harlem-based organization serving underprivileged
children. On the board of the New York Women’s Foundation,
Jean Shafiroff lends her voice to empower women to rise out
of poverty and unfortunate circumstances. Shafiroff
continues to recieve high praise for her dedication to
animals from Jonathan W. McCann, former board president of
the Southampton Animal Society.
Jean serves on the boards of eight charities also including
French Heritage Society, Couture Council, Jewish Board,
Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation Honorary Board, Global
Strays, and Southampton Bath and Tennis Club Charitable
Foundation. Jean is also an Ambassador for the American
Humane Society and the Southampton Shelter.
Author Jean Shafiroff’s influence places her at the pinnacle
of philanthropic society in New York and as a widely
respected resource. In 2016, she wrote her first book Successful
Philanthropy: How to Make A Life by What You Give as
an inspirational guide to giving regardless of one’s
financial status.
