Jane Millichip, CEO of BAFTA, said: “The 38 films nominated by BAFTA voters today span an extraordinary range of genres and stories.  The field this year is incredibly strong. More films were entered, making the selection process particularly tough for our voting members. The films and talented people nominated represent some of the most talked about films of the year, the most critically acclaimed, and films yet to be released and discovered by audiences. With a month to go until the EE BAFTAs on 18 February, we encourage film fans everywhere to watch as many nominated films as possible and find out more about the people who make them by listening to our new official podcast, Countdown to the BAFTAs, which is available widely on podcast platforms from today.”

Sara Putt, Chair of BAFTA, said: “BAFTA’s mission is to celebrate best in British and global filmmaking so we are delighted to showcase 38 extraordinary films in this year’s EE BAFTA Film Award 2024 nominations. BAFTA film voters are creatives, practitioners and film experts who represent all corners of the British and global film industry and they have been voting in their thousands having watched more hours of filmmaking than ever before. There are so many talented people both in front of, and behind the camera involved in bringing every BAFTA-nominated film to life and we look forward with excitement to celebrating their skill and creativity at the EE BAFTAs on 18 February.”

A staple fixture in the awards season calendar, the BAFTA Tea Party in Los Angeles welcomes contenders, members, and guests for a uniquely elegant gathering, in the run-up to the EE BAFTA Film Awards in London on February 18, 2023. The party has a long tradition of recognizing the very best talent and is a must-attend event, popular with talent seeking a respite from the hectic and demanding season. The event supports BAFTA’s year-round Learning, Inclusion and Talent programs in North America, creating opportunity and career pathways for talented individuals from all backgrounds.

The BAFTA Tea Party was pleased to welcome partners Delta Air Lines, Virgin Atlantic and BBC Studios Americas. Delta and Virgin Atlantic entered a joint venture partnership 10 years ago to enhance customer benefits between the U.S. and U.K. Since the partnership launched, the two global airlines have grown their shared network, adding more routes and flights between the U.K. and in the United States and transporting nearly 40 million customers seamlessly across the Atlantic between the two countries. Delta is proud to serve as LAX’s largest, premium, global airline. Last March, Delta relaunched service to London-Heathrow, a route not operated by the airline since 2015. More than 4,000 Delta Air Lines flights take off every day, connecting people across more than 275 destinations on six continents.

Virgin Atlantic is renowned for delivering a premium, personalized experience for its customers at every opportunity from table service and fabulous amenities in its Clubhouse lounges to afternoon tea in every cabin served by the airline’s iconic Vivienne Westwood-clad cabin crew. With three daily flights from LAX to London-Heathrow on one of the youngest and most fuel-efficient fleets in the skies, customers will experience how Virgin Atlantic sees the world differently.

About BBC Studios

BBC Studios, a global content company with bold British creativity at its heart, is a commercial subsidiary of the BBC. Able to take an idea seamlessly from thought to screen and beyond, its activities span content financing, development, production, sales, branded services, and ancillaries across both its own productions and programs and formats made by high-quality UK independents. Award-winning British programs made by the business are internationally recognized across a broad range of genres and specializations, with brands like Dancing with the Stars/Strictly Come Dancing, Top Gear, and Doctor Who. BBC.com, BBC Studios’ global digital news platform, provides up-to-the-minute international news, in-depth analysis and features to more than 139 million unique browsers each month. BBC Studios has offices in 20 markets globally, including ten production bases in the UK and production bases or partnerships in a further nine countries around the world. The company, which ordinarily makes around 2,000 hours of content a year for both the BBC and third parties including Apple, Netflix, and Migu, is a champion for British creativity around the world. It is also a committed partner for the UK’s independent sector through a mix of equity partnerships, content investment, and international distribution for program titles.

In the U.S, BBC Studios operates both a distribution business and one of its major production units. The production unit, based in Los Angeles, creates and produces adaptations of UK programs, as well as all new original programs, for linear and digital platforms in the U.S. This production unit is responsible for the phenomenally successful, Emmy®-winning Dancing with the Stars, the multi-award-winning Life Below Zero franchise, the popular reboot of the classic quiz show Weakest Link and the revved up Top Gear America. In scripted, the team has achieved success adapting British hits, including Ghosts, Call Me Kat (based on the UK format Miranda) and Welcome to Flatch (This Country in the UK) for top U.S. broadcast networks.
