HIGHLIGHTS
This year's program promises an array of
highlights, including:
· Opening
night on April 12 at the Quad Cinema will
feature the premiere of "La
Mujer Salvaje" (A
Wild Woman),
an all-Cuban production co-written by Alan
González and Nuri Duarte, telling the
compelling story of a mother's unwavering
fight for her son's love.
· The
Unseen Gaze: A Retrospective of Nicolás
Guillén Landrián, a
significant restoration project unveiling
the lost legacy of Cuba's pioneering black
filmmaker, Nicolás Guillén Landrián. This
restoration project sheds light on the
forgotten contributions of Landrián while
illuminating the dark realities that
marginalized his work.
· Through
the Lens of Contradiction: A Tribute to
Tomás Gutiérrez Alea's Iconoclastic
Cinematic Chronicle of Cuban Society. The
Most Comprehensive Showcase of the Legendary
Cuban Filmmaker Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, Titón,
to be Featured at the 24th Havana Film
Festival New York. In partnership with the
Cohen Collection.
· The
Havana Star Prize competition showcases
the latest award-winning Latin American
films across various categories such as Best
Fiction Film, Director, Screenplay,
Actor/Actress, and Documentary.
· "Harmonies
of the Americas: Celebrating Latin Music
Legends, Past and Present," a
vibrant homage to the rich tapestry of Latin
music.
