Former Brushes with Cancer designers are using unique
fashion pieces that will be modeled by individuals touched
by cancer.
Twist Out Cancer, an international non-profit charitable
organization that uses creative arts programming to provide
social and emotional support to individuals touched by
cancer, announced today that it will host a Runway of
Resilience Fashion Show on Sunday, September 29, at Salvage
One, 1840 W. Hubbard Street, Chicago.
Just two weeks before the first official Chicago Fashion
Week, the runway at this unique event will become a symbol
of strength and courage as Inspirations, people who have
been touched by cancer, will model stunning fashion pieces.
The fashion designers have poured their experiences,
emotions, and creativity into each piece, reflecting the
diverse stories of those impacted by cancer.
These designs will be worn proudly by models who have faced
their own journeys with cancer, showcasing strength,
resilience and hope. “Over the last 12 years, artists that
have been part of our Brushes With Cancer program have used
different mediums of art to reflect an Inspiration’s
personal journey with cancer.
This has included paintings, mixed media, sculptures,
poetry, music, and fashion,” said Jenna Benn Shersher,
Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Twist Out Cancer. “
Along with our Twistshops and Twist Hearts programs, the
Runway of Resilience is another way that Twist Out Cancer
continues to evolve and find new ways to utilize creative
arts programming to give our Inspirations a chance to share,
connect, and heal.”
The Runway of Resilience Fashion Show will feature models
who are either a previvor, survivor, caregiver, or
supporter. A full list of models can be found on the Runway
of Resilience website.
