WHAT: The eighth Annual Archival
Evening to benefit the Historical Society of Palm Beach
County honors the contributions of individuals whose
accomplishments and influence have helped to define the
history of Palm Beach. This year’s intimate dinner-dance
honors Dame Celia Lipton Farris. Dame Celia came to show
business naturally as the daughter of popular bandleader
Sidney Lipton and began her career as a teenager on the
London stage, moving on to movies, Broadway, nightclubs,
and television. She has spent a life-time performing for
service personnel on everything from battleships to Red
Cross Clubs. With her late husband Victor Farris, Dame
Celia has been an influence in the worlds of
philanthropy, society and entertainment in Palm Beach
and her generosity in the community remains legendary.
