“The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for
curiosity.” -Dorothy Parker
Join our Art Book Holiday Benefit and we promise you will
not be bored! On December 9th the Lower Eastside Girls Club
will be auctioning off two limited edition art books that
offer distinctly different views on photography and
documentation. Aren’t you curious? Join us for cocktails,
hors d’Oeuvres, dessert, and an auction paddle to bid on
some really fabulous books.
$100 General Admission and $250 VIP tickets available at
www.girlsclub.org
after November 1st.
All attendees are automatically entered into a raffle
drawing for a “behind the scenes” private tour of the
Christie’s Impressionist and Modern Sales vault. And there’s
more: as a holiday gift from the Girls Club, everyone will
receive an art book or exhibition catalog (many of them
signed by the artists).
Auction Items include:
Artists and Prostitutes, David LaChapelle Valued at $4000
Donated by the artist. Limited edition of 2,500 copies
worldwide, numbered and signed by the artist.
Celebrating the visionary LaChapelle’s truly extraordinary
photography, this
698-page, XL-sized book is packed cover-to-cover with
vibrant full-bleed images; the best of his entire career to
date. Bursting at the seams with spectacle and drama, and
saturated with colors that only LaChapelle can realize, this
limited
edition pays tribute to the most daring and ambitious
photographer in the history of portraiture. All color
illustrations are color-separated and reproduced in Pan4C,
the finest reproduction technique available today, which
provides unequalled intensity and color range. 1988, Your
House is Mine Valued at $3500
A hand-bound volume of limited edition signed posters
created at the height of the East Village political
renegade/squatter/street artist movement of the late ‘80’s.
17” x 21” with 35 prints including: Eric Drooker, Miguel
Pinero, Andrew Castrucci, Seth Tobocman, Lee Quinones,
Marguerite van Cook and James Romberger, Anton van Dalen,
Peter Missing, Lady Pink, David Wojnarowicz and more.
The Lower Eastside Girls Club provides a place where girls
and young women 8-23 can grow, learn, have fun, and develop
confidence in themselves and their ability to make a
difference in the world.
By delivering strong arts, literacy, science, health and
leadership programs we provide girls with the vision to plan
– and the tools to build – their future. All Girls Club
programs develop environmental, entrepreneurial and ethical
leadership in the girls we serve.
