Champion for Children Awards Luncheon, is an annual fund
raising event that provides our most significant source of
unrestricted support which is critical to our ability to
operate all of our programs. We help thousands of the city's
most vulnerable children stay in school, increase academic
achievement, develop career readiness and prevent teen
pregnancy. More than 50% of the individuals who will receive
benefits from this event are from low-income families. Our
program participants live in areas of the city with some of
the highest rates of unemployment, adolescent pregnancy,
crime, and diseases that disproportionately affect the poor,
single-parent households, and failing schools. Last year,
Mission Society crossed a major milestone to touch the lives
of over 10,000 children and families living in some of New
York City's most underserved communities, including Harlem,
Brooklyn and the
South Bronx.
Founded in 1812 New
York City Mission Society has been changing lives of
children and families for 198 years with a mission to
provide programs and services in a warm and loving
environment in which children and families from underserved
communities achieve personal growth and a greater degree of
self-sufficiency |
