Annual Benefit
Features Street Fair Festivities
The Mayor's Fund to
Advance New York City will host its 7th Annual
Fete de Swifty benefit on Wednesday, September 29,
2010, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, on East 73rd
Street (between Lexington & Third Avenues in Manhattan).
Proceeds from the event will benefit the New York City
Family Justice Center Initiative, a unique public/private
program administered by the Mayor's Office to Combat
Domestic Violence.
This year, the event will
also benefit the New York City Housing Authority’s Early
Childhood programs, which provide children in NYCHA public
housing communities with high-quality early care and
learning opportunities for overall child development, and
school and lifelong success.
This year, Mary J.
Blige, Tim Gunn, Mariska Hargitay, Nicole Kidman, John
Starks, Steve Stoute and Malik Yoba are serving as the
honorary chairs of the event, which was founded by Liz
Smith.
Fete de Swifty's
combination of street fair and cocktail party has been a
unique event in New York City since 2004. Over that time,
Fete has raised critical funds to support the New York City
Family Justice Center Initiative of the Mayor's Office to
Combat Domestic Violence. This innovative program enables
victims to meet with a prosecutor, speak with a trained
counselor, and apply for housing and financial assistance in
just one visit while their children play safely. Providing
services in one location with partnering City agencies and
community providers increases the effectiveness of service
delivery to help break the cycle of violence. The Mayor's
Fund to Advance New York City serves as the umbrella
not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization for the City of New
York. For more information on the event,
