WHAT:
Presentation of the $50,000 American History Book
Prize at the gala black-tie dinner that opens
the annual Weekend With History event, an
exclusive, high-level gathering organized by the
Chairman $B!G (Bs Council of the New-York Historical
Society.
WHO: Historian Gordon S. Wood,
professor emeritus at
Brown University, will receive the prize in
recognition of his book Empire of Liberty: A
History of the Early Republic, 1789-1815 (Oxford
University Press, 2009).
The prize will be presented by Roger Hertog,
Chairman of the Historical Society.
