PARTNERSHIP
WITH CHILDREN:
This year Partnership with Children celebrates 102 years of
service to New York City children and families in need.
Through our unique school based program --Open Heart-Open
Mind -- we reach over 10,000 students each year whose
devastating life circumstances put them at risk for academic
failure. Our teams of professional social workers integrate
themselves seamlessly into school communities on a full time
basis to provide crisis intervention and individual and
small group counseling to those children and families who
need it most. Our Center for Capacity Building
provides professional development and training based on our
best practices and Life Steps, our community
based program provides counseling for adolescents at risk of
being removed from their homes and placed in foster care.
Our year to year evaluations
and a recent eight year longitudinal study show that our
Open Heart-Open Mind program is instrumental in closing
the achievement gap between the lowest performing students
receiving our services and their peers.
Our mission is to strengthen the emotional, social and
cognitive skills of at-risk children so they can succeed in
school, in society and in their lives.
IMPORTANCE OF
Benefit:
Partnership with Children
makes a difference in the lives of thousands of school
children and is recognized as a beacon of hope for teachers,
students and their families. Many seasoned educators have
expressed their desire to see the organization extend its
services to many more schools. Our program is currently in
22 schools throughout the boroughs of New York City. Each
year we need to raise the money to continue our much needed
programs and to expand into new schools where our services
are desperately needed. With your help, we can continue to
serve the at-risk students of New York City.
