Jupiter/Palm Beach Gardens, FL–
Place of Hope has no shortage of people who
give of themselves to help the foster
children who reside on its campus.
But some jump in a little faster, give a
little quicker and dig a little deeper –
setting an example for all who follow. For
doing just that, Dean F. Morehouse will be
honored at this year’s Place of Hope Golf Invitational & Charity Dinner
with the Maudie Pande Award, which
recognizes a long-standing dedication to
turning around the lives of abused and
neglected children.
Morehouse will be recognized at the dinner,
which kicks off the annual event April
25-26, 2010 at The Bear’s Club in Jupiter.
The Golf Invitational & Charity Dinner
welcomes Place of Hope supporters from
across the country to raise operating funds
for programs, housing, services and
outreach. Last year, more than $600,000 was
raised to assist Place of Hope’s main Palm
Beach Gardens campus, which features 24-7
parental foster care; adoption and foster
care recruitment; education, recreational
and spiritual support; and emergency care,
family outreach and intervention.
“The work that is done at Place of Hope –
building families and making a real
difference – would not be possible without
the generosity of people like Dean
Morehouse,” said Place of Hope Board
President Mickey Nocera, who introduced
Morehouse to the organization.
“He has a heart for the children.. He is
generosity personified. A big giver, who
loves kids and loves the mission for the
kids. The first year, I sponsored the entire
tournament. The second year, I asked (Dean)
to host the tourney for $50,000. He took one
second to say “done,” and he’s been the host
every year since.”
Morehouse, a Jupiter resident, is the owner
and CEO of MTM Builder/Developer, Inc. of
Maryland . He and his family have always
taken an active role in helping others who
are less fortunate. He is currently on the
Place of Hope Golf Invitational committee
and serves on the board of several
charitable organizations, such as the
Greater Washington Sports Alliance, Greater
Washington Sports Charities, George Mason
University , Wolf Trap Foundation, Inova
Health System and Foundation Board,
Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation,
and Grassy Waters Preserve.
He is the founder and board member of Azalea
Charities, and serves as
Chairman of the Mid-Atlantic American Heart
Association for 2009 – 2010.
He was also a two-term Mayor (1986 – 1994) of Washington , Virginia .
