MONEY FOR CANCER RESEARCH
Southampton, NY – Uniting
Against Lung Cancer will host its 5th annual
“Kites for a Cure,” a family kite fly benefiting lung cancer
research on Saturday, May 28th, from 4:00 to 6:00
p.m. (rain date May 29th) at Coopers Beach in
Southampton, NY. For a donation of $30, guests receive
snacks, kites, decorating materials, and a t-shirt. Parking
is free.
As many as 1,000 people are
expected to gather on America’s #1 beach, decorating their
kites with a special message for family members and friends,
or a general message of love and hope for those suffering
with lung cancer.
Uniting Against Lung Cancer was founded in 2001 in
memory of
Joan Scarangello, a Southampton
resident and non-smoker who lost her battle with lung
cancer. In just seven years, the foundation has awarded
over $7 million in research grants into diagnosis, treatment
and a cure for lung cancer. Lung cancer is the nation’s #1
cancer killer, claiming more than 160,000 lives in the U.S.
this year alone.
