(PALM BEACH, Fla.) –
The ballroom at The Mar-a-Lago Club will be filled with
stars as the Caron Gala 2012 takes an After Dark theme for
its seventh annual event. Comedian, Richard Lewis will
headline entertainment and NFL great, Joe Theismann will
emcee the February 25th, 2012 benefit for addiction recovery
at
Caron Renaissance.
The Caron Treatment Centers network is one of the finest
nationally recognized non-profit drug and alcohol treatment
centers in the country, offering residential treatment and
outpatient programs for adults and adolescents, as well as
families affected by the disease of addiction. Caron
Renaissance’s state-of-the-art treatment campus in Boca
Raton features groundbreaking on-site family programs, and
is pioneering new advances in the field of addiction
treatment. Funds raised from the annual Caron Gala are
earmarked for the Lifesaver Scholarship Fund at Caron,
offering scholarships for well-deserving patients and their
families seeking treatment they otherwise could not afford.
Caron Gala Chairman, Petra Levin, will return for her
seventh consecutive year in the Gala leadership role and
will be joined by Honorary Chairman, Donald Trump; Junior
Chairmen, Martha and Robert DeForest; and Honoree, Patrick
Rooney at the 2012 event. Corporate Sponsor for the Gala is
Tiffany & Co.
"This year’s gala
promises to be an evening filled with laughter and smiles
and we are excited to have Richard Lewis and Joe Theismann
in attendance,” said Levin. “I hope the event’s festivities
provide a platform to get people talking about the disease
of addiction, so the healing process can begin. There
shouldn’t be a stigma associated with addiction. Rather,
like other diseases, treatment is one of the most effective
answers and this event raises critical dollars for treatment
scholarships at Caron."
Recognized by Comedy Central as one of the top 50 stand-up
comedians of all time, Richard Lewis started writing ad copy
in New Jersey while also writing jokes for comedians. After
appearing on "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson,"
Lewis continued to tour and hone his own act. The “Curb Your
Enthusiasm” star was charted on GQ Magazine's list of the
'20th Century's Most Influential Humorists.' In his memoir,
The Other Great Depression, Lewis is as brave, insightful
and forthcoming as he is in his comedy -- talking about
substance abuse and recovery, and skewing it in his unique
way.
Former star quarterback for the Washington Redskins,
Theismann has worked for ESPN on their NFL broadcast and
currently, he is co-host on the NFL Network show “Playbook.
While at the University of Notre Dame, Theismann received
All-American honors and led the Fighting Irish to
consecutive Cotton Bowls. He was elected the NFL’s Man of
the Year for his community service and dedication to the
health and welfare of children. He won the league’s MVP
award and in 2003 was inducted into the College Football
Hall of Fame.
