On Monday, November 7, 2011 the New-York Historical Society
will present Dr. Henry Kissinger and James Chanos with the
distinguished 2011 History Makers Award at the
Waldorf-Astoria during its annual History Makers Gala. The
theme of the evening will be China: An Evening With the
Experts, featuring a discussion between Dr. Henry Kissinger
and noted historian Dr. John Lewis Gaddis. The money raised
will benefit the programs of the New-York Historical
Society, including major exhibitions and educational
programs on American history.

Honorees:
Dr. Henry A. Kissinger was the 56th United States
Secretary of State and a former Assistant to the President
for National Security Affairs. He is a winner of the Nobel
Peace Prize and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He
currently serves as a member of the Defense Policy Board and
is the Chairman of Kissinger Associates, an international
consulting firm.
James Chanos, is the founder and Managing Partner of
Kynikos Associates LP. Throughout his investment career, Mr.
Chanos has identified and sold short the shares of numerous
well-known corporate financial disasters. His celebrated
short-sale of Enron shares was dubbed by Barron (the market
call of the decade, if not the past fifty years. )
The media has noted his prescience in alerting finance
ministers and others about the global financial crisis well
before if occurred.
