(Denver, Colo.) –The Denver Art Museum (DAM) announced today
that it will honor long-time museum trustee and local
businessman Charlie Gallagher at its 32nd annual Collectors’
Choice fundraising gala on November 29, 2012. The glamorous
affair is one of the museum’s largest fundraisers. This year
funds will help support the DAM’s dynamic exhibition
schedule and ongoing education programs.
“For nearly two decades, Charlie Gallagher has served on the
museum board, helping to guide the institution,” said
Christoph Heinrich, Frederick and Jan Mayer Director of the
DAM. “We’re thankful for the generosity and vision of the
Gallagher family and want to celebrate their ongoing
commitment to the DAM.”
A constant friend to the museum, Charlie has been a
steadfast supporter of the museum’s programs and mission.
Joining the DAM Board of Trustees in 1995, Charlie has
served as Co-Vice Chair of the Board since 2001. In honor of
contributions made by Charlie and his wife Diane to the
Frederic C. Hamilton Building Capital Campaign, a
6,000-square foot exhibition space located on level one of
the Hamilton Building was named the Charles P. and Diane
Gallagher Family Gallery. Charlie and Diane also offer
ongoing support of museum exhibitions and programming
through the Annual Fund Leadership Campaign and endowment.
As one of Denver’s premier entrepreneurs and deal-makers,
Charlie gives back extensively through service and
philanthropy in both arts and education. Charlie and Diane
founded the Diane and Charles Gallagher Family Foundation in
1997 with a primary focus on educational opportunities and
college scholarships for inner city youth. The Foundation
has been a major contributor to many community charities,
universities, hospitals and the arts.
Event co-chairs are Marilyn and Pete Coors, Cindy and Ted
Halaby, Jane and Fred Hamilton, Verna and Bill Pauls and
