CITYarts and
Bing Summer of Doing
July 10, 2012
The Search Engine from Microsoft and the Nation's Largest
Organization for Teens and Social Change Will Help Restore
CITYarts' Pieces For Peace Mosaic in Celebration of the New
Bing & Doing Good
WHAT: Bing and DoSomething.org Celebrate
Bing Summer of Doing at Jacob H. Schiff Playground in Harlem
Bing and DoSomething.org will continue the Bing Summer of
Doing at Jacob H. Schiff Playground, by helping restore and
beautify CITYarts' Pieces for Peace Mosaic. The campaign
aims to inspire young people to come together and give back
to their communities throughout the summer. The Bing Summer
of Doing is in celebration of the new Bing, which combines
the best of search with the best people from popular social
networks like Facebook and Twitter, to help people spend
less time searching and more time doing.
Bing and DoSomething.org will work alongside celebrities and
volunteers to beautify and restore CITYarts Mosiac Peace
Wall in the heart of Harlem by retiling and restoring the
Wall. The Peace Wall was produced by CITYarts following the
tragic events of 9/11 to facilitate greater understanding
among people of different cultures and bring together young
people through their shared vision of peace. Volunteers will
also clean up the surrounding parks and playground. The day
of service will conclude with an unveiling of the projects
and a surprise performance by Kat Graham.
The event will also serve as the kick-off of
DoSomething.org's "The Hunt: 11 Days of Doing," in
collaboration with Bing and Lenovo. The Hunt will pose 11
days of challenges, each with the goal of engaging teens
around the country to affect social change for positive
community impact. Teens will work together to complete the
challenges and report back to show how they created
measurable impact in their community, all while collecting
points to win cool prizes and scholarships. The challenges
will focus on important issues such as the environment,
poverty, bullying, education, and more.
Young people everywhere can find ways to get involved in
their own communities, by visiting
www.Bing.com/doing to search for local projects on
Bing.com, and use the new Bing to get inspiration from
friends for ways to give back this summer.
