Benefit will Feature Actor
Charles Dutton Performing One-Man Show “From Jail to Yale:
Serving Time on Stage”
The Honorable Judge
Judith S. Kaye, Former Chief Judge of the New
York Court of Appeals, will be honored by
The Fortune Society, one of the nation’s most
respected nonprofit organizations offering services to
formerly incarcerated men and women, at its
2012 Annual Fall Benefit.
On Monday, October 29th,
2012, The Fortune Society will present the David
Rothenberg Achievement Award to the Honorable Judge Kaye who
is currently Of Counsel at the international law firm
Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP and Affiliates. As
the first woman to ever serve in
New York’s highest court, Judge Kaye
made groundbreaking decisions in statutory, constitutional
and common law issues, and established specialized courts to
focus on
issues such as drug addiction, domestic violence and mental
health.
Fortune will honor Judge Kaye
during its annual benefit at the
Tribeca Rooftop
in
Manhattan. From
6pm-9pm,
hundreds of Fortune Society supporters will enjoy cocktails
and hors d'oeuvres followed by the awards presentations and
a scene from the one-man show
“From Jail to Yale:
Serving Time on Stage” performed by
award-winning actor
Charles S. Dutton.
Dutton served time in prison and successfully rebuilt his
life becoming an educated, professional actor, producer and
director. His one man show,
“From Jail to Yale: Serving
Time on Stage” describes how he overcame the
challenges in his past and turned around his life.
