Inaugural Art Southampton
to Host Watermill Center
Summer Bash Kick-off
to Launch The Watermill Center/John Chamberlain
Residency Fund July 27
Art Southampton presented by Art Miami will host a very
special evening to benefit The Watermill Center, located in
Watermill, New York. On Friday, July 27, internationally
acclaimed director and Watermill Center Founder Robert
Wilson will host a VIP reception followed by a screening of
“HEAARTBEAT” a documentary on world renowned artist John
Chamberlain created by his step-daughter Alexandra
Fairweather. The screening will help launch the Watermill
Center/John Chamberlain Residency Fund to benefit the
Center’s year-round Artist Residency Program, which provides
a unique environment for young and emerging artists to
explore and develop their work.
Susan Davidson, Senior Curator, Collections and Exhibitions
at the Guggenheim Museum will speak about John Chamberlain's
life and work. Davidson curated the acclaimed John
Chamberlain retrospective which was recently exhibited at
the Guggenheim this past spring. She will also speak at the
VIP Preview Reception on July26.
By documenting Chamberlain's artistic process and
intentions, the film reveals his desire to go out into the
world and create art that makes your 'heart beat’.
‘HEAARTBEAT’ captures the man that the public has not seen
before: Chamberlain as a father, a husband, and a friend. As
he battles health issues, Chamberlain fervently works to
complete sculptures that will leave his mark on the world.
In conclusion, the movie asserts that art's true value comes
from the presentation of 'unprecedented information' and
'the experience of self-discovery’.
International friends and local supporters of The Watermill
Center who are attending its famed gala – The 19th Annual

their weekend in grand style in the VIP Lounge at
Art Southampton.
The evening will begin with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at
5:00pm for all Watermill Center Summer Bash supporters. At
