NEW YORK, NY – Families and friends
looking to get out of the cold this weekend and warm up with
some free fun can come to the pet-friendly New Yorker Hotel
(34th Street and Eighth Avenue) from 11 am – 6 pm
this Saturday, Jan. 7, where there will be a full day of
auditions for dogs of all shapes and sizes at the inaugural
“New Yorkie Runway Auditions” casting call.
Canine contestants from near and far –
including dogs from Texas and Virginia who are registered
for the event – will be auditioning their talents, showing
off their fashion style, or sharing their story before a
panel of judges, including David Frei, author of the new
book Angel on a Leash and the official voice of the
legendary Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.
While this is a free event – and open
to the public on a first-come, first-admitted basis –
donations for Angel on a Leash will be accepted throughout
the day.
The winner of the New Yorkie Runway
Auditions will have the opportunity to walk the “dogwalk”
with celebrities and well-known New York personalities at
the second annual New Yorkie Runway event (taking
place Feb. 10 at the New Yorker Hotel), along with their
fashionable dogs, to raise money for Angel on a Leash
foundation, the non-profit organization that creates therapy
dog programs for hospitals and institutions.
