Palm Beach
Symphony Gala & Concert:
Redefining the Romantics to Showcase
Superstar Pianist, Lola Astanova
& Renowned Guest Conductor, Jahja Ling
Palm Beach, FL – The Palm Beach Symphony is pleased to
announce its inaugural Gala and Concert at the Kravis Center
for the Performing Arts on April 10, 2012. Celebrating the
end of a successful 38th season, this event will forever
change the face of the Palm Beach Symphony, giving audiences
the opportunity to experience an energized interpretation of
the classics, literally Redefining the Romantics.
The glamorous gala will begin at 7 p.m. with a cocktail
reception, followed by the Redefining the Romantics concert,
including a Tchaikovsky concerto and Dvořák symphony,
conducted by Jahja Ling and featuring pianist Lola Astanova.
The evening will conclude in high-style with a sumptuous
four-course dinner catered by Special Impressions by the
Breakers, dancing to live music and mingling with the
artists. This exquisite event will take place in a stunning
setting created by Michael Ereshena/The Special Event Design
Group in the Kravis Center’s Cohen Pavilion.
Michael Finn, the recently appointed Executive Director of
the Palm Beach Symphony commented, “I’m thrilled to wrap up
my first season leading this organization with such an
extraordinary event.” He continued, “Ms. Astanova and Mr.
Ling both have an exciting, modern approach to classical
music which will afford us the opportunity to bridge the gap
between longtime symphony supporters and the next generation
of classical music lovers.”
Featured pianist, virtuoso, Lola Astanova, known as the
“Lady Gaga of classical music,” brings passion, beauty and
excitement to her performances. Lola is among the most
watched virtuoso performers in the world, and her original
piano arrangements are attempted by countless pianists. Most
recently, Ms. Astanova made her Carnegie Hall debut in a
sold out “Tribute to Horowitz” concert, chaired by Donald J.
Trump and hosted by Julie Andrews.
Guest conductor Jahja Ling’s unprecedented and prolific
career has earned him world-wide acclaim for his musical
integrity and depth of expression. Now, in his eighth season
as Music Director of the San Diego Symphony, Mr. Ling has
received the highest praise for his live performances, local
and national broadcasts and recordings, including official
recognition by the U.S. House of Representatives in the form
of a Congressional Record of his outstanding achievements in
the U.S. Capitol.
