Celebrating 28 years of polo tradition between the
University of Virginia and Yale, the 28th Annual
Harriman Cup Polo Match will take place on Saturday,
September 8th from 10am-6pm at The Meadowbrook Polo Club
in Old Westbury, NY. Both a fundraiser and social
event commemorating the life of diplomat, polo player,
and former New York Governor Averell
Harriman. All alumni, family and friends are invited and
encouraged to attend.
This year’s Team Sponsor J.McLaughlin has designed
the polo jerseys for both the UVA and Yale teams. The
Pony sponsor will be Heron Financial Group. Alton Lane,
JP Crickets, Hudson Sutler, and Peter Beaton will donate
items for the event’s Best Dressed, Best Hat, and Best
Tailgate prizes.
The Harriman Cup Award will be presented to
world-renowned polo player Nic Roldan, as well as to
David Walentas, the esteemed developer of D.U.M.B.O. in
Brooklyn, NY and owner of Two Trees Farm, the home of
the Bridgehampton Polo Club.
The Harriman Cup is generously and expertly organized
and led this year by Board Co-Chairs Liz Brayboy and
Matt Paco, Vice Chairs Elizabeth Kennedy and Kat
Thomsen, Events Committee Members Kat Thomsen
(Chair), Adam Klopp, and Kourtney Koslosky, Marketing &
Promotions Members Christy Williams (Chair), Henry
Tibensky (Chair), Billy Cooling, and Christine

The Harriman Cup is a non-profit organization is
dedicated to promoting the sport of polo and supporting
the collegiate polo programs at Yale and UVA. The
organization has raised over $600,000 for the
schools’ undergraduate polo teams.
