COUNTRY MUSIC
STAR RODNEY ATKINS
TO HEADLINE THE JULEP EVENT HELD ON THE EVE OF THE KENTUCKY
DERBY IN LOUISVILLE
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Rodney Atkins, owner of six No. 1 country
music hits including "Farmer's Daughter" and "Take
A Back Road," will be the headline entertainment at The
Julep presented by Brown-Forman on May 4 at the Galt House
in Louisville. The event benefits the James Graham Brown
Cancer Center at the University of Louisville.
"We are so excited to have Rodney Atkins provide the
entertainment at The Julep this year," said Paula Gish,
co-chair of the volunteer committee that is helping to
organize the event. "This event has a long and rich
tradition as one of Louisville's premiere Derby Eve events.
Having Rodney Atkins perform at the event only enhances that
heritage."
An award-winning singer/songwriter, Atkins has an impressive
track record with hitting on sentiments that strike a chord
with the country listener. His new album, TAKE A BACK ROAD,
has helped propel Atkins to even greater heights with his
latest single, "He's Mine," a clever tune focused on the
unconditional love of a son and the sense of pride felt when
recognizing personal responsibility for the child's
mannerisms, no matter how questionable they may be.
"I am honored to be The Julep's musical guest this year as
I've long admired the tradition and energy associated with
the event," says Atkins. "I feel privileged to continue the
legacy while raising funds and awareness for the cancer
center."
