The
National Association of Women for the Arts, in recognition
of International Women's History Month is presenting the
"Women of Asia: Musical Stars of Asia Concert" on Sunday,
March 18 at the Merkin Concert Hall, Kaufman Center, located
at 129 West 67th Street,
New York City at 3:00 pm.
The concert focuses on three extraordinary accomplished
Asian women artists from China and Japan and represents the
emerging talent rising out of Asia today. MAO YA, from
China, is one of the most remarkable guzheng musicians in
the world; SACHIKO SUGA, is an accomplished and renowned
classical pianist from Japan; and jazz flutist YUKARI, fuses
diverse musical styles with unique innovation. The artists
will perform traditional, classical and contemporary musical
compositions, including two premieres.
The concert is the first in a series of
Woman of Asia Arts Concerts and launches the Women of Asia
Arts Initiative of the National Association of Women for the
Arts.
