set for Sunday, March 3, 2013 from 12 noon to 4pm.

stores and presented by the non-profit Museum of Lifestyle &
Fashion History, Children & Parents Day is celebrating the
pineapple fruit for National Nutrition Awareness Month
and the 500th anniversary of Florida.
The Master of Ceremony is Virginia Sinicki, Morning
Co-Host of the KVJ Show on Wild 95.5. Children &
Parents Day will be held at the historic Boynton Woman’s
Club in Boynton Beach, Florida.
The event will feature
pineapple fruit-infused cooking demos, Make-Me-A-Pineapple
kids cooking classes, pineapple-themed arts and crafts,
souvenir photos in the pineapple patch, a personal
appearance by the Pineapple Farmer Patty, entertainment,
music and an all-you-can eat farm-to-table lunch.
Famed Chef Chrissy
Benoit of The Little House will conduct a cooking demo
and kids cooking class highlighting the use of the fresh
pineapple fruit. The cooking demo line-up also includes
baker Bonnie Brown of Bonnie’s Best Bests; and
Chef Phillip Herman of the Secret Garden Café. Under
the leadership of Chef Suzanne O’Neil of the South
Tech Culinary Academy, her students will assist the
chefs with the kitchen management, demos and kids cooking
classes.
A specially designed pineapple
fruit-shaped cake created by Pastry Chef Lara Fisher of
Cakes by Lara will be unveiled at the Children & Parents
Day and served for dessert at the event.
The all-you-can-eat
farm-to-table healthy lunch is being catered by the Secret
Garden Café with fresh produce for the Urban Farm and Target
grocery store.
Kingston & Associates
is sponsoring a significant donation of their Sugar Pine
brand of pineapples. According to Kingston, their
pineapples are high in Vitamin A and have four times more
Vitamin C than other pineapple varieties. The pineapples are
cholesterol free with low levels of sodium. Kingston is one
of the world’s largest producers of pineapples which are
grown on their own farmland. The farm-to-table lunch,
cooking demos and kids cooking classes will feature the
Kingston pineapples.
Pineapple fruit planting demos
will be showcased by the Boynton Garden Club.
Pineapple-themed arts and
crafts will be the fun interactive experience for the
children and their families. Some of the creative workshops
will be conducted by local artists who include Rolando
Chang Barrero of ActivistArtista, Barb Lentz of
Art-Sea Living and Inge Behrens of CIB Art Gallery.
Students from American Heritage School of Boca/Delray
are the official student volunteers for the arts and craft
stations. And, the American Heritage National Honor
Science Society is presenting a pineapple activity at
Children & Parents Day.
The 8th annual
Children & Parents Day is an official Community Event
Partner for the 500th anniversary of the State
of Florida,
Viva Florida. Pineapple fruit farming had a
major historic impact during the agricultural development of
the State of Florida. Pineapple Farmer Patty will be
making a personal appearance at the event and sharing the
history of pineapple farming in Palm Beach County. And,
souvenir photos will be offered in the Pineapple Fruit
Patch.

for discounts. $15 per person; free for children under age 3
(for tickets purchased before March 3, 2013); $20 per
person; free for children under age 3 for same day/on-site
payments. Fee includes all food, arts and crafts,

The purpose of this festive
program is to provide a fun-filled day of family adventures
with arts, crafts and history education activities for
children.
Children & Parents Day
will be hosted at the historic Boynton Woman's Club, 1010
S. Federal Highway, Boynton Beach. The Boynton Woman’s
Club is an original 1926 Addison Mizner designed building
that is on the National Registry of Historic Places.
Additional support has been provided by Celebrations at
the Boynton Woman’s Club, The Palm Beach Post, the
Patricia Ann Ravo Fund, and the Boris & Edith Rueger Fund.

The Museum of Lifestyle&
Fashion History was established in year 1999 and is a
non-profit 501c3 organization with the mission to offer
educational programs, and history and retrospective
anthropology exhibits showcasing lifestyle, cultures,
people, places, fashion trends, clothes, architecture,
furnishings, decorative arts, interior designs, locomotives
and toys, and information about popular uses of artifacts by
people/events of various periods of time.
