What: On September 17 CITYarts will celebrate
the completion of its 5th Global Peace Wall. CITYarts
kicked off the creative process on the CITYarts Mosaic
Peace Wall in Berlin on June 13, work continues through
September 13. The CITYarts Peace Wall in Berlin will be a symbol
of the voices of our youth, striving for cultural understanding
and Europe's unity-a permanent testament to peace in a space
that is rich with historical and emotional significance. The
CITYarts Mosaic Peace Wall will be produced in the historic Mitte district.
Why: CITYarts Global Peace Walls are part of CITYarts' Young
Minds Build Bridges program, which engages youth
from around the world in positive activity, allowing them to
visually articulate their hopes for a future of peace. In a city
once known for a division, the CITYarts Peace Wall in Berlin,
the 5th global wall, will be a significant contribution to
unity, memory, and community. This wall already connects 12
diverse schools in Berlin-not divides-celebrating the peaceful
future that can be realized through the engagement of tomorrow's
leaders, while adding to a site of remembrance and learning.
Who: CITYarts will be joined by 12 schools in
Berlin: The Jewish School, ESF Mode Design, ISS in der
Ringstraße, and Hans-Fallada-Schule, among others. CITYarts
Executive and Creative Director, Tsipi Ben-Haim,
Israeli American truly believes that "when kids create, they do
not destroy". The artists for the project are Maayan
Iungman, Israeli; Svenja Teichert; Cosmomusivo
Mosaik, German; Giuseppe Fornasari,
Italian; and Lynn Brown, American. The CITYarts
Mosaic Peace Wall is sponsored by lead sponsor Allianz, and

When: The ribbon cutting ceremony dedicating
the permanent CITYarts Mosaic Peace Wall will take place on September
17, 2013. The creative process began on Thursday June
13, 2013 and will continue through September 13, 2013,
every Monday-Friday, from 10:00-17:00. Volunteers can
participate on any day.
Where: The CITYarts Mosaic Peace Wall will be
produced in the historic Mitte district of the city at Grosse
Hamburger Strasse 25, a street known to many as the "Street
of Tolerance" because of its proximity to the Old
Jewish Cemetery, a landmark Protestant church, a historic
Catholic hospital, and the Jewish School Moses Mendelssohn.
