KID-FRIENDLY EVENT
February 10 benefit to raise funds for Hanley’s substance
abuse prevention efforts in local schools
(Wellington, FL) – What happens when you appoint child
chairmen and committee members for your upcoming benefit
event. A whole lot of fun, according to Hanley Family Picnic
child chairman, Jack Thomas, age 8. Son of event chairmen,

Raising funds earmarked for Hanley Center's research-based
prevention programs in local schools, the annual family
picnic is in its 18th year. Traditionally held during
Wellington’s Winter Equestrian Festival, the picnic offers a
chance for families to expose kids to the excitement of the
world-class jumping competition with premium seating, all
with the backdrop of a casual lunch, animal encounters, a
magic show, kids’ crafts and a silent auction geared just
for children.
“We are excited to work with and support the Hanley Center,”
said event chairman, Dan Thomas. “Our family believes in
educating children about the dangers of substance abuse and
supports families that are dealing with addictions. We are
committed to youth prevention and to being a part of this
great organization. We also have the honor of partnering
with Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, his wife,
Dorothy, and their two-year-old grandson, Noah, to raise
awareness about the disease of addiction.”

helped many children and adults have a better understanding
of the disease of addiction,” said Dr. Rachel Docekal,
Hanley Center Foundation CEO. “Funds from events like the
Family Picnic are critical to our outreach. We are so
grateful for the support from our Family Picnic chairs and

Located in West Palm Beach for more than 25 years, Hanley
Center recently joined the Caron Treatment Centers network.
As a result of this alliance of industry leaders, Caron and
Hanley Center together become the largest and most
comprehensive nonprofit addiction treatment provider in the
country, focused on a 12-Step recovery program with a
powerful clinical component. Caron is well known for
pioneering addiction treatment that is gender-specific and
specialized for adolescents, young adults, families, as well
as in instances of relapse. Hanley Center has forged new
ground creating programs focused on baby boomers and senior
citizens. Combined, these innovators will now offer the
country’s most comprehensive continuum of treatment ranging
from adolescence through older adulthood. In South Florida,
Caron and Hanley Treatment Centers operate lifesaving
addiction treatment centers at Hanley Center, Caron Ocean
Drive and Caron Renaissance in Palm Beach County; and Gate
Lodge in Vero Beach.
