MIAMI CITY BALLET CELEBRATES
OPENING NIGHT
WITH A RED-CARPET KICKOFF AT THE
ADRIENNE ARSHT CENTER FOR THE ARTS

Friday, October 18, 2013, Miami
City Ballet kicks
off another extraordinary season of ballet in true Miami
style. The outdoor plaza of the Adrienne
Arsht Center for the Performing Arts will
be open 90 minutes prior to curtain and abuzz with a live
DJ, cocktails, and photo-ops with dancers in full costume.
Attendees will strut down the red-carpet, pose for the
paparazzi, and get ready another year of ballet with "one of
America's most-beloved dance companies."
Miami
City Ballet's first Program, titled First
Ventures, opens Friday,
October 18, 2013 at
the Adrienne
Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in
Miami and continues at the
Broward Center for the Performing Arts in
Fort Lauderdale and the Kravis
Center for the Performing Arts in
West Palm Beach on subsequent weekends.

The
aptly-named First
Ventures program
marks the debut season of new Artistic Director Lourdes
Lopez, and features both a Company premiere by one of
today's leading choreographers - Christopher
Wheeldon -
and two classic Balanchine ballets
that are each 'firsts' in their own right.
"I
am thrilled to be back in the community where I grew up and
can't wait to share with South Florida, the nation and the
world a Miami City Ballet that celebrates our culture and
connection to the people of this special city and our
neighbors," says Lopez. ?I am hoping that you will be with
us to witness once again live music, the athleticism and
grace of our dancers, and the stories of this exhilarating
new season."
